If your vehicle has a recurring check engine light or fault codes that return after clearing, those codes are likely embedded in the ECU software. What Is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code)?

DTC is an international system for storing faults detected by the ECU in standard code format—P0XXX, P2XXX, U0XXX, B0XXX, etc. If the same sensor or part is still faulty, codes return shortly after clearing with a basic OBD tool.

When Is Software-Level Delete Required?

• When a part is structurally removed (DPF, EGR, AdBlue, GPF, etc.).
• Recurring codes after modification (turbo pressure, exhaust flow, etc.).
• When faults persist to keep the vehicle temporarily mobile.
• To fully remove known faulty part history from memory after replacement on a used vehicle purchase.

Which Codes Can We Permanently Delete?

DPF/GPF flow and pressure codes (P2002, P2463), AdBlue/SCR codes (P20EE, P229F), EGR flow codes (P0401, P0402), lambda sensor codes, turbo pressure sensor codes, catalyst efficiency codes, temperature sensor codes, and many other engine fault codes can be permanently deleted at software level.

How Is It Done?

1. Full diagnostic scan: Active and stored codes read across all ECUs (engine, transmission, ABS, climate, airbag, etc.).
2. Codes to permanently delete are determined: Mechanical faults must be resolved first if they persist.
3. ECU software read: Original file backed up.
4. Software edit: Monitoring modules for relevant codes disabled in software.
5. Software load: Modified file written to ECU.
6. Adaptation and test drive.

Is Fault Code Delete Safe?

If real mechanical faults still generate codes, we recommend fixing them first. Software deletion provides a permanent solution when we have removed a part or disabled a sensor. We do not recommend software deletion to hide mechanical problems—it can lead to greater damage later.
