EGR Delete

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve sends a portion of exhaust gas back to the intake manifold to reduce emissions. Over time, however, soot buildup causes it to clog, stick, or fail completely, seriously reducing engine performance. At Ankara Gazi Automotive, we perform EGR delete both in software and physically at our Şaşmaz/Etimesgut center.

Why Is EGR Delete Done?

• Soot buildup: Soot in exhaust gas forms a 1–2 cm layer in the intake manifold, reducing airflow by 30–50%.
• Turbo life: A dirty EGR system worsens turbocharger operating conditions.
• Fuel consumption: A blocked EGR disrupts the air-fuel mixture and increases consumption.
• Maintenance cost: Manifold and EGR valve cleaning/replacement is expensive.
• Check engine light: EGR flow faults and stuck valve codes are common (P0401, P0402, P0404).

Symptoms of EGR Failure

• Rough idle, engine vibration.
• Power loss under acceleration, black smoke.
• High fuel consumption.
• Tendency to stall at idle.
• Check engine light (P0400 series codes).

How Is EGR Delete Performed?

1. Fault diagnosis: EGR flow faults and sticking codes are read via OBD diagnostics.
2. Software read: ECU file is read and backed up.
3. Software delete: EGR valve open/close commands, flow control, and related fault monitoring are removed from software.
4. Software load: Modified file is loaded.
5. Physical delete (optional): A blanking plate is fitted to the EGR valve to physically block exhaust gas from entering the intake manifold.
6. Fault code clearing and test drive.
